Where is your mind right now? Without judging the findings, chances are you may have been thinking about something in the future or trying to resolve something from the past.

We are hard-wired to scan for problems and threats. Research shows that we spend about 50% of our waking hours in this state of mind called the default mode network.

There is another way though and that is with mindfulness; being present to more moments of your day without judgmentas you live them. Is this a day that you can tip the scales and be present more than 50% of the time to what is happening, as it is happening?? You may be surprised with how wonderful it feels to live more of your moments fully.

Second lesson learned on April road trip

After having enjoyed our time in Cape May, we broke down our camp area and headed South. We had our sites on Charleston, SC but realized it was too long of a road trip for one day’s travel. So we randomly selected Virginia Beach as our next road stop. Much to our surprise, we were delighted to discover that the First Landing campground was right next to the beach and our camp site had easy access to the ocean. Additionally, we were delighted to discover 19 miles of lush forest trails waiting for our exploration. Here we thought this would be simply a convenient place to take a pause before the next leg of the journey became a jewel unto itself.

So lesson #2--- Be open to delightful and unexpected surprises on your journey wherever it takes you! I can still remember rambling through the lush forest walk amazed at the size of the trees and denseness of the terrain itself. Priceless!!
