Where is your mind right now? Without judging the findings, chances are you may have been thinking about something in the future or trying to resolve something from the past.

We are hard-wired to scan for problems and threats. Research shows that we spend about 50% of our waking hours in this state of mind called the default mode network.

There is another way though and that is with mindfulness; being present to more moments of your day without judgmentas you live them. Is this a day that you can tip the scales and be present more than 50% of the time to what is happening, as it is happening?? You may be surprised with how wonderful it feels to live more of your moments fully.

Mindfulness and the task of cutting my lawn!

So this blog isn’t the third update on my trip. I promise to write the next installment soon.  What felt more pertinent today was sharing how my senses savored the morning chore of moving our lawn.  As I rounded each corner of our property, I enjoyed the brilliant colors of stark white and bright pink azaleas as these petals opened fully into the sun. The soft blanket of greenery under my feet felt like I was walking on clouds. Birds serenaded me as they found perfect perches in our willowy birch tree. Life was blooming all around me. I too, felt alive. With engaging my senses, I felt so present, so at one with the vivid natural world around me. Can you imagine moving through your days with such presence? May you purposefully experiment with capturing the present moment and letting your senses digest the wonder of what is around you.
