Where is your mind right now? Without judging the findings, chances are you may have been thinking about something in the future or trying to resolve something from the past. 

We are hard-wired to scan for problems and threats. Research shows that we spend about 50% of our waking hours in this state of mind called the default mode network. 

There is another way though and that is with mindfulness; being present to more moments of your day without judgmentas you live them. Is this a day that you can tip the scales and be present more than 50% of the time to what is happening, as it is happening?? You may be surprised with how wonderful it feels to live more of your moments fully.

MOTHER NATURE AND MINDFULNESS

As I was driving to work today, I became aware of the brilliant sun streaming through my car window. Although the blustery wind was buffeting up against my car,  the warmth of the sun was still discernible as it radiated warmth upon my face. I captured this moment of mindfulness, appreciating the tenacity of Mother Nature and how paying attention to this natural world around us is a great way to deepen our mindful practice. Can you bring your awareness to the sky, the trees, the snow and sun? When doing so, can you take some deeper breaths and appreciate all that we take for granted? Although it is cold and very windy, it is a good day to be alive, to feel the wind swirl around us. May you look to the skies and savor the varied experience this day provides.
