Yesterday our Mindful Self-Compassion group’s topic was on “living deeply”. How often do we reflect on how deeply we are living each day of our lives? In order to figure out if we are living deeply, it is important to first determine if we are living in accord with our core values? Do you know what yours are? Perhaps you value generosity or kindness or loyalty or something else. Take a moment to discover what is truly important to you. Are you allowing your life to be guided by your values or do you find yourself pulled by the sway of “society’s demands” and “shoulds”? This is your precious life! See if you can re-align your behaviors with what you value most. It is never too late to take charge of your life and return to the organic rhythm in which you need to live.
Where is your mind right now? Without judging the findings, chances are you may have been thinking about something in the future or trying to resolve something from the past.
We are hard-wired to scan for problems and threats. Research shows that we spend about 50% of our waking hours in this state of mind called the default mode network.
There is another way though and that is with mindfulness; being present to more moments of your day without judgmentas you live them. Is this a day that you can tip the scales and be present more than 50% of the time to what is happening, as it is happening?? You may be surprised with how wonderful it feels to live more of your moments fully.
